She began to create much more music that walked the line between country and pop. Some of the most popular songs released were, “Love Story,” “Fearless,” and “You Belong With Me.” It hit number one on the Billboard 200 and holds the record for the most weeks at number one for a female country album. Taylor began to really show more commercial success, as this was her second album to hit the Billboard 200. Many of these songs are arguably her most popular from this genre. It also made Swift shift from being known as a country artist, to an artist in general. She became much more mainstream following the release of this album.

Spek Now was released in 2010 with singles such as “Sparks Fly” and “Back to December.” Swift once again showcases her songwriting talent, as she wrote every song on the standard edition of the album for the first time. This album really includes themes of love, heartbreak, and growing up. Songs like “Better Than Revenge” show a very young perspective on heartbreak, while “Back to December” shows a contrasting mature take on love. “Long Live” is all about growing up and trying to maintain the friendships one has as a child. She once again debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and is listed as the fastest- selling album in the US by a female country artist in the Guiness World Records in 2010. It was also ranked 13th on Rolling Stones list of best albums in 2010.

Red:

Red is the last official country album released by Taylor Swift. It very clearly walks the line between country and pop, similar to her previous albums, though many critics argued that she is no longer a country artist and has moved too far to pop. However, it was a big success amongst listeners. It hit number one on the Billboard 200 and received 3 Grammy nominations. Some of the hit singles included, “We Are Never Getting Back Together,” “22,” and “I Knew You Were Trouble.” Many of these were featured on social media platforms such as Vine, as part of trends going on at the time. AS she has switched between multiple genres, it showcases her skills as a musician, to be able to create music that has done well in all categories. Many artists are unable to expand in this way, however Taylor has done it successfully with these two albums.

Midnights:

Bringing her back to pop, Midnights tells the story of 13 nights. It was released in 2022, and discusses anxiety, insecurity, love, and self realization.
