Personal Life:

Born Malcolm James McCormick in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania in 1992, he grew up …

His first mixtape, called “My Mackin’ Ain’t Easy,” was released with his group member Beddie and under the stage name EZ Mac. It was released in 2007 when Mac was only 15 years old. He continued to make music with his group before he was discovered and signed in 2010. As he rose to fame and continued his career, his relationship with substances grew very dependent and he struggled with drug abuse. He became addicted to lean in 2012 during his tour, and continued to struggle with substance abuse until his accidental overdose in 2018, which led to him passing away.

Career:

Mac Millers career officially took off in 2010 when he signed with Rostrum Records. He released his first album in … called “Blue Slide Park,” which featured songs such as …. The same year, he released his fourth mixtape “K.I.D.S.” which was later released commercially in 2020. It features some of his most well-known songs, such as “The Spins,” “Knock Knock,” and “Traffic In the Sky.” He continued working on his music over the next few years and later released his second studio album “Watching Movies with the Sound Off,” which hit number 3 on the Billboard 200. This album featured songs such as …, which hit … spot on the Billboard 200 chart. That same year, he was featured on “The Way” by Ariana Grande, which was nominated for World Music Award’s World Best Song Award.

2014-2018:

As his career began to take off, Mac later created a label with Warner Bros Studio in 2014. Rostrum REMember Warner Bros. Some of the artists signed to the label include Wiz Khalifa, Rich the Kid, Mod Sun, and Donora. Many credit the success of Mac Miller to the philosophy of the label that encouraged heavy touring and social presence.

In 2014, after departing from Rostrum Records, he independently released Faces, his tenth mixtape. Some of the tracks featured on this album are, . After independently releasing his tenth mixtape, he signed a deal for his next album, REMember Music with Warner Bros. Records. His last studio album to be released during his life was Swimming, which was released in 2018. He was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album following his death in September 2018. His final performance was NPR Tiny Desk Concert.

After:

Following his death, some albums were released. In 2020, the first of these albums, Circles, was released. Another album, K.I.D.S. was rereleased, and as a way to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the album, there were additional songs released. Lastly, Ariana Grande, who dated Mac from 2016-2018, performed hits from her first album, including “The Way” which featured Mac Miller and adjusted to music to honor him.
