What do you get when you combine anime such as One Piece and Demon Slayer with live music? Crunchyroll is combining those two elements at San Diego Comic Con, where fans of One Piece will have the opportunity to listen to a live orchestra, and fans of the anime “Demon Slayer” and “Sword Art Online” will be able to watch a free performance by J-Pop Artist, LiSA.
A Celebration of One Piece
There have been various celebrations celebrating the 25th anniversary of Eiichiro Oda’s “One Piece”.The celebrations included a video montage on YouTube, an announcement of another remake associated with Netflix, and a residency at the Las Vegas Sphere with a nighttime show. “One Piece” even became the first anime to have a show at the Las Vegas Sphere.
This quarter-century celebration of the anime will continue at one of the biggest events in Pop culture conventions. Toei Animation and Crunchyroll have also collaborated on this experience to bring the music of One Piece to San Diego Comic Con by the San Diego Symphony Orchestra.
According to the concert description, this is what fans could expect from the show:
“Setting sail at on Saturday, July 27 at 7:00 pm, the One Piece 25th Anniversary: Symphonic Voyage with the 40+ piece San Diego Symphony will transport concertgoers on a 90-minute long immersive voyage combining emotional soundscapes and aerial pyrotechnics based on some of the most memorable moments from One Piece, the epic series created by Eiichiro Oda and produced by Toei Animation – now anime’s longest running global phenomenon.”
Furthermore, for those unable to attend the events in person, highlights will be posted on Crunchyroll’s social media channels. This ensures everyone can join in the celebration.
LiSA, the J-Pop Superstar
The excitement, however, doesn’t stop there. On Friday, July 26, the Crunchyroll Concert Series will feature another free performance by J-Pop artist LiSA. She is known for her hit anime theme songs. This includes “Gurenge” from “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” and “Crossing Field” from “Sword Art Online”. This would be a huge performance as this would be her first concert in the U.S. in over 10 years. This performance is also meant to promote her upcoming concert film, “LiVE is SMiLE ALWAYS -LANDER-“, which will be released in the U.S. on August 17, adding to the anticipation surrounding her performance.
Both series of concerts will be set against the backdrop of The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park. Both outdoor concerts are free for all SDCC badge holders, with entry on a first-come, first-served basis.
