Music Review: KingQueen

Energetic, electric, and extremely fun. KingQueen is bringing pop-rock back to its heyday. This multi-award-winning band from Los Angeles is taking the rock scene by storm. Injecting it with a new sense of freshness and originality that it’s been craving. A uniqueness that is reminiscent of that beautiful 80’s sound with a distinctly modern touch. KingQueen combines this with lyrics that represent the struggles that we all face daily. Resonating themes of self-endurance and bettering oneself, KingQueen perfectly encapsulates this premise. We had the pleasure of conducting a sort of Q&A with the band and got some great responses you don’t want to miss!

Loud House Media:

Such a unique and powerful name for the band. Diving a bit deeper in regard to the name; what does KingQueen represent and what are the values it stands for?

KingQueen:

So the name KingQueen actually came about when our lead singer Ina aka Sabrina Petrini moved to LA and her first couple of gigs were at drag nights. The drag queens were calling each other “queen” and one of them named Sabrina “KingQueen”. And she made that her stage name. Later on it became our band name.

It stands for being unapologetically YOU! Do you, be loud, live large and never give up. And remember there’s strength in vulnerability.

Loud House Media:

The band is constantly grinding. You guys have many shows coming up. What can a casual fan expect from attending a live performance by KingQueen?

KingQueen:

It’s loud, it’s energetic, it’s a fun vibe and we always stay after and have drinks with everyone. So it’s a party.

Loud House Media:

What has been the band’s inspiration? This is such a tough industry to break into. You guys show the grit and grind it takes to make it happen. How does the band stay motivated during those sleepless nights of working?

KingQueen:

Honestly, it’s our connection to music and the “why” in why we make music. To us music is like eating, we need it. Also it’s a shared connection with the audience that’s indescribable. It’s a give and take flow and it makes us feel alive. It’s all about the energy and connecting with other humans. We also really enjoy each others company. Playing music with friends makes everything feel effortless. So yes it’s hard to “make it”… but it’s a journey and we’re enjoying this journey together.

Loud House Media:

Wrapping up the Q&A, what does the future have instore for KingQueen? What should we be on the lookout for? Are there any big projects in the works?

To bring us beautiful works of art that are impassioned with energy and emotion. Led by fearless lead singer, Sabrina Petrini, KingQueen is ready to establish themselves as one of the hottest acts out now.
